Black Light Chapter TwoChapter Two: Bragging, fights and the Creepy Twins
I was still bragging halfway home.
'And I managed to hit it right in the eye! Alex was just shooting up the shell-'
'Exoskeleton,' Alex muttered.
'-and I got it with one shot. Who's the famous sharpshooter now, huh?'
'All right, he heard it already!' Alex yelled. Wow. Only five minutes until he snapped? Record.
'Alex, don't shout. Emma, stop this. I'm very pleased that you finally hit a target, but I've heard enough now.'
Simmons was skulking in the car with his most threatening look. Which wasn't very threatening, to tell the truth, unless you knew he had a hotline to some of the most powerful people in the country and could easily have you thrown in jail indefinitely. We shut up.
'So what were we fighting?' I asked casually. Yeah, I know I said I shut up. But I don't really do quiet and meek. Not my thing.
'Code Nine, Insectoid, point of origin somewhere around sector 25 from the readings. Came through yesterday. Luckily y
Black Light IntroductionChapter One: Double Maths, Playground Fights and Life or Death Battles with added Biology Revision
I glared at the piece of paper. Of all the things I'd suffered, and there was a pretty impressive list, double Maths on a Friday afternoon was possibly the worst. And cruellest. I remembered Alex saying that it constituted Cruel and Unusual Punishment and that he was going to try and get it made illegal.
He probably wasn't joking.
So people aren't supposed to abuse their power for personal gain. But come on, this was double Maths. Children all across the country were suffering.
Thankfully, the bell rang before I was forced into invoking the Geneva Convention on the Rights of the Child on Miss Halpen. The last time something like that happened, Simmons blew his top and nearly fired me.
So I guess you're wondering, by now. Who the hell is this kid and how did she escape from the loony bin? She's gabbling about double maths and the Human Rights Act and she thinks she has a friend who can pas
Ren bunched up his muscles, ready to fight. He had a hand on his dagger and it was half drawn when he realized what was going on in front of his eyes.
He let his hand leave the dagger, cautiously, but stayed on alert as he tried to make sense of what was happening.
Kako saw him lower his hood, pushing it back from his eyes. His white streak of hair shone against his raven locks. His dark eyes gazed at her with a familiar expression of tolerance and amusement. His mouth was quirked in a gentle smile. But his face- his familiar face- was broken and twisted by a scar that stretched down the side of his face. The shiny flesh looked well healed but Kako knew exactly when it had been torn and she felt her heart breaking. He smiled slightly and looked at her.
She ran forwards towards him, feeling like all the years had never happened. She reached out and- for the first time in three years- she cried as she hugged him. A single tear made its way down her cheek as she held onto hi
Albion is a peaceful country. It has its share of malcontents and ne'er-do-wells, its share of troublemakers and hooligans. It does, after all, play host to a large guild of warriors who fight Shadows and anyone who gets in their way - and that does a lot for peacekeeping.
In a street in the center of Baskerville, the capital city, a busy street market is underway. Trader's stalls line the pavements, crowds bustle and shift like shoals of fish, bunching around one stall or another. The air is filled with steams and scents, shifting on the breeze. Every step takes you through another set of senses- sight, sound, smell and even taste shifting like currents in the water, bringing you another set of pleasures.
In the middle of this morass of humanity are a couple. They are fairly non-descript in appearance, a boy and a girl. The boy has messy brown-blond hair and a look of wonder in his deep brown eyes. He drifts through the market, easily distracted, his eyes flitting from one thing to
